Costa Rica is a country in Central America. It borders Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the southeast. Its territory is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Its capital, political center, and economic center is San José. The official language is Spanish.

Costa Rica, one of the most established democracies in the Americas, has maintained a strong political stability despite the economic and social difficulties of the past two decades. Costa Rica gained worldwide recognition for being the first country to abolish its army on December 1, 1948.

Costa Rica has a larger maritime surface area than a continental one, given that its oceanic area is approximately 500,000 km².
Due to its geographical location, Costa Rica has a pleasant climate, which is a combination of tropical climate and mountainous systems, making it relatively stable, with its greatest variations being a rainy season and a dry season.
Temperatures don't vary much throughout the year. Generally, the maximum difference between the hottest and coldest months doesn't exceed 5°C (Celsius).

Temperatures vary throughout Costa Rica, but not exceptionally, due to altitude. Below 800 meters, temperatures can range from 25°C to 32°C; in regions between 800 and 2,500 meters, temperatures range from 14°C to 25°C, as in the Central Valley; and above 2,500 meters, temperatures can drop below 14°C.
Costa Rica has two main rainy regions, one on the Caribbean side and the other on the Pacific side, which in turn affect or include the northern, central, and southern regions, as well as the Central Plateau.
During the rainy season, which extends from May to mid-November in the northern regions, and from April to December in the south. The dry season covers the remainder of the year and is defined by two phases: first (December, January, and February) with calm, cloudy skies and cool winds; then (March and April) with clear skies for most of the day, with light breezes, and the highest temperatures of the year. During the dry season, the highest temperatures occur during the day, while the lowest temperatures occur at night.

During July and August, there are short dry seasons called "veranillos." In the Caribbean, including the Caribbean and northern regions, there is no dry season. In the coastal zone, however, there are relatively dry periods, one in March and April and the other in September and October. Here, rain generally occurs in the evening or at night.
Costa Rica offers a wide variety of cultural venues and activities, with concerts, festivals, exhibitions, and plays performed by professionals and art lovers, sure to be memorable.
